New Quay Yacht Club has a varied and challenging racing programme. The bay is ideal for this as the prevailing winds are south-westerly. For the hardier sailors there is also an annual Frostbite series running from January to April.

South Staffs Sailing Club visit New Quay in June with their fleet of boats for their annual exchange of lake for sea. They are usually joined in their racing by a few local NQYC boats, anyone interested should contact the club for more details.
